About the Chalet

Perched at almost 2,000 metres above sea level, Chalet Les Broune is a secluded Alpine hideaway above the village of La Forclaz, in the heart of the Val d’Hérens between Verbier and Zermatt. Surrounded by untouched Alpine landscapes, glaciers and the majestic Dent Blanche, it offers a rare sense of privacy and immersion in nature.

Built in 2004 by local IFMGA mountain guides Pierre Crettaz and his son Gilbert Crettaz in the traditional style of the region, the chalet is intimate, warm and entirely self-sufficient. Solar panels provide electricity, a traditional soapstone stove provides heating, and fresh water comes from an old mountain spring that once supplied the village of La Forclaz.

Designed for 2 to 4 guests, Les Broune features a spacious living and dining area, a sleeping mezzanine for two to three guests, a fully equipped kitchen with gas cooker, a bathroom with shower, and a large south-facing terrace overlooking the glaciers and the 4,357-metre Dent Blanche.

Les Broune is not a large luxury chalet in the traditional sense. Its exclusivity lies elsewhere: it is a private, cosy and genuinely Alpine retreat for guests seeking nature, adventure and solitude — an authentic mountain experience far removed from an ordinary chalet stay.
